A LOMO Lesson Learnt

Since I arrived back at Durham, I took a few rolls of film with my Lomo LC-A that I picked up in London but when I unloaded the last film, I checked the shutter and noticed it was jamming when taking sample frames! The realisation that the whole roll of film was probably black suddenly came to m.! I have dropped the camera several times (on hard, unforgiving surfaces) d black tape. My LC-A was made in 1996 and has probably had quite a few beatings 'round the Soviet bloc before it entering into my posession. The people at Sendean Cameras have been great but this isn't their fault and I suspect that if I want to be a Lomographer, I'll need to buy a new LC-A+ for something that'll take some bashing and be consistent in working.

Final advice to anyone listening - Don't buy old things and expect them to take a beating and work for a while

London Calling

I have made several posts in the past with this title but as you may have guessed, I'm off to London on today to see the Eagles at the O2 Arena. In the past few months, the band have become one of my favourites and are very high in recent my last.fm rankings as you can see. The tickets weren't cheap but I am very much looking forward to the show and the reviews so far are very encouraging.

Take Me Out

I will also be staying Wednesday night and having a day of fun in London - something I have wanted to do for years - visiting places like Tate Modern, Battersea Power Station, The Photographers Gallery as well as the usual favourites like the Apple Store and Buckingham Palace. If you have any suggestions on places to visit in London, then let me know!

Finally, on the Habari front, 0.4.1 is triggering up for release, Michael is continuing to make progress on Monolith and despite the progress made with WordPress 2.5 on the Administration interface, I continue to love Habari and have great hopes for the future. It's so easy and clean to use...

Durham Cathedral

Durham is a very picturesque town that is just asking to be photographed, with many wonderful sights with the cathedral (a UNSEO world heritage sight too!) and castle being two fine examples of the architecture on offer. The walk along the river allows you to encompass all of these sights as well as providing good opportunities to photograph them.

Since the first week of arriving, I've been planning to do this but it has taken this long for some unknown reason. The summer will provide some amazing opportunities for more photos of these sights I am sure.

A Week In The Life

After failing to post photos everyday for the past week, I decided to put them all up here. I have still been taking photos but it's been a hectic week so I was unable to keep up and ended up with bad habits.

However, this week is going to be different (hopefully) and here are seven photos for the past seven days. Enjoy!

Shoppertainment

After a lovely (traffic jam free) journey down up the A1 motorway, I popped into the Metro Centre to pick up a few things from Marks and Spencer. It has the clame of Europe's largest shopping and leisure centre, with four main quadrants and 330 shops! It can be easy to get lost if you don't know the place and tracking down a single shop can be neigh impossible. For any prospective shoppers, sticking to evenings is a good bet if you want hassle free shopping. Visiting at 2:00pm on a Saturday is an easy way to drive you insane.

Obviously, this means I am away from Durham for a few days and it is a nice break to back home. Being at university does crazy things to you - jumping from one part of life to another.
