Another Tequila Sunrise

Durham Cathedral

Durham is a very picturesque town that is just asking to be photographed, with many wonderful sights with the cathedral (a UNSEO world heritage sight too!) and castle being two fine examples of the architecture on offer. The walk along the river allows you to encompass all of these sights as well as providing good opportunities to photograph them.

Since the first week of arriving, I've been planning to do this but it has taken this long for some unknown reason. The summer will provide some amazing opportunities for more photos of these sights I am sure.

A Week In The Life

After failing to post photos everyday for the past week, I decided to put them all up here. I have still been taking photos but it's been a hectic week so I was unable to keep up and ended up with bad habits.

However, this week is going to be different (hopefully) and here are seven photos for the past seven days. Enjoy!

Shoppertainment

After a lovely (traffic jam free) journey down up the A1 motorway, I popped into the Metro Centre to pick up a few things from Marks and Spencer. It has the clame of Europe's largest shopping and leisure centre, with four main quadrants and 330 shops! It can be easy to get lost if you don't know the place and tracking down a single shop can be neigh impossible. For any prospective shoppers, sticking to evenings is a good bet if you want hassle free shopping. Visiting at 2:00pm on a Saturday is an easy way to drive you insane.

Obviously, this means I am away from Durham for a few days and it is a nice break to back home. Being at university does crazy things to you - jumping from one part of life to another.

In A Tree By The Brook

Down by Physics

Today's title-come-song-lyric is inspired by two things - one is the picture of the tree with a Durham sunset in the background but also the purchase of several new vinyls today. I purchased a Sony HiFi system from eBay with a turntable and have been hunting for records since. I already owned Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here and In Through The Out Door and today I added to this collection with Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin IV and Tattoo You. Aside from fun activities, I am full of cold and a headache today. The walk from the Durham Student's Union to my college is something that would have been nice to avoid but the encouragement from friends got me there in the end.

I've Been All Around

A Place to Eat

As part of my taking-camera-everywhere. I captured this shot while visiting the local McDonalds here in Durham. Interestingly, there is not a McDonalds in Durham City and this was in a retail park several miles out. I'm not any sort of health freak but most of my friends and myself never visit a McDonalds or even consider it. It just doesn't seem to be integral part of lives.

Beside this, it was a still a good treat and had plenty of banter time with a few friends. Not something to do every week but it made a nice change from the usual college Sunday Roast that one will receive each week.
